1ST-3RD GRADERS

As we have studied the best way to create an encouraging learning environment for our young athletes while maximizing reps and development, we run a unique and special format for this age group. Athletes will sign up for a weekly league slot and train/compete with other girls and boys their age. For training and competition, we will use a U10 height net and U10 volleyballs with a modified court size. Athletes will have 20 minutes of training + 40 minutes of mixed-partner games with a DOUBLES format to encourage maximum reps and development. They will rotate and play with several different partners each week. At the end of the season, we will have awards for athletes finishing with the most points and treats for all of our participants. Each athlete will receive a t-shirt jersey and will work with all of our 1st-3rd grade coaches that are trained to work with these younger athletes. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this weekly league to cheer on and encourage your athlete during the 40 minutes of game-play. South-end ONLY @ Mtn Peak Volleyball.

DIVISIONS EXPLAINED:

Our 4th-6th, 7th-9th, and 8th-12th grade leagues are split into several different divisions to help create the best possible learning environment for each player and contribute to a positive overall experience. If you are unsure of your division, please enter the B Division. If your athlete is too advanced once league-play begins, we will move him/her to an A Division team. It is much easier to move your child up than down!

  • "A" Division: Experienced players who have typically had at least one year of club volleyball training. Able to consistently serve and perform the skills of passing, hitting, and defense.

  • "AA" Division: Very experienced players who have competed at a high elite or national team level.

4th-6th Grade League Divisions

Frequently Asked Questions

What day will my child practice and compete?
4th-6th & 7th-9th grade practice days will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday depending on the availability of each team. We usually have multiple teams per school, so if one day doesn't work for your athlete there will likely be another day available to be placed on one of the teams from your school area. You will be asked to list any practice day conflicts during registration. 1st-3rd graders will select a league weekday during registration that works best for their athlete.

Competition days will be Fridays for our 4th-6th grade league, Saturdays for our 7th-9th grade league, and Mondays for our 8th-12th grade league. All matches will take place at Mountain Peak Volleyball in Logan. The final tournament will take place on September 27 or 28 depending on your division. Practice and game schedules will be finalized and posted shortly after registration closes. We will get schedules out as quickly as possible after regular registration has closed.

How will teams be assigned?

4th-6th and 7th-9th grade teams will be created based on the high school area that your child will be attending. We typically have multiple teams per school, so there is no cap placed on the number of athletes allowed to play. School options include Sky View High School, Green Canyon High School, Logan High School, Ridgeline High School, Mtn Crest High School, Bear River High School, and Box Elder High School.

For the 8th-12th 4v4 League, you can register your team directly or register as a Free Agent and join a team individually.

1st-3rd graders will be training and competing in a designated timeslot each week; however, there will be no official "teams" for this group as we structure the format to encourage maximum reps and development in our 2v2 setting.

Will there be a boy's team?
Boys participate in our 1st-6th leagues as they are a coed league. Our
boy's club season will be starting in August with team placement in July; we encourage any interested 4th-12th grade boy's to participate in the club program.

How will I know who is on my child's team?
Our club uses LeagueApps, which is a program that helps make communicating with your team and coach simple and convenient. Team rosters and schedules will be posted on the app so you can quickly and easily communicate and find information each week of when your child's team plays. Results each week will be recorded on LeagueApps so you can know how the team performs each week.

Who are the coaches?
Your child will have a qualified Mountain Peak coach that will teach your athlete correct volleyball fundamentals using our keys, terms, and drills in an encouraging learning environment. Our coaches will also integrate PEAK mental training into practice and competition to help your athlete understand how to develop a growth mindset in addition to learning to play and compete.

How long is practice?
Practice will be once per week for 1.5 hours (plus 30 minutes of Power & Agility for 4th-6th & 7th-8th grade divisions). For our 1st-3rd grade league, practice and competition will be combined (20 minutes of training plus 40 minutes of gameplay).

How long are games?
Each 4th-6th & 7th-9th grade teams will play 2 matches per week. Generally, matches will be approximately 45-60 minutes in length. Typically, plan for a 1.5-2 hour timeframe on match days.
